I’ve loved “kipperred snacks since I was a little kid. My parents used to buy them in flat oblong cans, and they were called, here in Michigan, “Kippered Snacks”. They were kippered herring in oil in the cans. Since,I’ve been grown and had my own children, I’ve never been able to find them in Michigan, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine or Massachusettes. Now, I’m 60 years old and still crave them, they were so delicious. (Our whole family loved them)

Can you please tell me where or if I could still purchase them?\

Canned fish=Happiness here too. We eat canned sardines, pickled herring, kippered herring, white sardines (sublime), any many other permutations.

We are in NC and see them quite frequently in various forms including cold smoked only (needing cooking).

Check Greek markets, Whole Food here has them…. Or check SoutherSeason.com they have EVERYTHING and are based here in Chapel Hill.

I have just discovered pickled herring and bought some from Aldi. Since then I have also found them at the dollar store. I was thrilled as I have a 14 year old son newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. If he is hungry and wants a very low carb snack, he can have some pickled herring. They have the regular pickled herring and a lemon pepper version too. Wonderful!

Any dollar store, Walmart, supermarket should have kippered snacks. Each brand whether Polar, Crown or Brunswick get their herring from the same packing source. They just put on different labeling.
